My Story
My brain is wired to build. When I was young, I could be found in the basement or backyard, cobbling together small toys out of wood scraps. Electrons became my new medium in college, as I began to experiment with circuits while studying electrical engineering, and also getting my feet wet in computer science. My first engineering job in nuclear submarine electrical systems followed. After four years I had gained a lot of useful experience, but I decided I wanted something more interactive and challenging. I recalled the enjoyment I got from my university software classes: introduction to computer science, object oriented programming, data structures and algorithms, and suddenly the next step of my career became clear.
From the fall, of 2020 to the following spring, I built a campervan from scratch out of a Ford Transit cargo van, packed up my then-girlfriend (now fiancée) and pet hamster, and hit the road. While exploring the country, I enrolled in Springboard, an online coding bootcamp that teaches the fundamentals of fullstack software engineering. I learned the ins and outs of web development no matter where I was, from the rocky Oregon coast, to the towering saguaro cacti of Arizona.
Since then I’ve completed Springboard, including two capstone projects, and returned to domestic life back in Connecticut. My son Theodore was born on December 10th, and my life has never been the same!
